Saunas in Stockholm: what to know

There are 74 saunas on this site, from the city centre to the outer islands. Most are by the water. At almost all of them you can cool down in a lake or in the sea.

There are two kinds of visit. At a public sauna you pay per person and share the sauna with other people. At a private sauna you book the whole sauna, and only your group is there. Many saunas have both.

In the city, popular public saunas are Hornstullsbastun and Tanto Bastu on Södermalm, STHLM Sauna Vinterviken and The Sacred Sauna. Just outside the city, Hellasgården in Nacka is a classic. You can swim in the lake there all year.

We check every sauna on its own website. We show if a sauna is closed and if a club runs it. We also show how you cool down: in a lake, in the sea or in a cold pool.
